The Alpena Golf Club is on the north side of Alpena off US 23 to the west on Golf Course Road.

The golf course is a tale of two nines. The front side from the 1930s is a classic routed along fairways defined by mature hardwoods with ample landing zones but modest greens. The back is an updated design and 400 yards longer as it traverses pond studded, rolling fairways lined by trees with generous green complexes. It plays to 6,459 yards, 70.0/121, course/slope ratings off the tips with two shorter tees with the backside designed by Warner Bowen.
