Alaska is the largest and least populated U.S. state with more than half the population living just in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau where most of the best public golf courses are located. It's known for its unending, diverse terrain of open spaces, mountains, forests, glaciers, bays, rivers, and the Pacific and is a destination for outdoor activities like skiing, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and yes golf.

Golf in Alaska is fleeting as there are only eight, 18-hole golf courses in a state that is larger than all but 18 sovereign countries and is golf-starved with one golf course for every 92,000 inhabitants. There's also a host of nine-hole golf courses scattered about where stunning settings far outweigh the substance of the courses' design.
