Best Public Golf Courses in Kansas

Kansas is a wide state at 400 miles long and is challenging for travel with mostly two-lane roads away from the Interstate Highways of I-70 from east to west and I-35 which bisects the state at Wichita then branches off to Kansas City. While most of the state is known as flat, Mount Sunflower, on the Colorado border towers over the state at 4,039 feet in elevation, but unfortunately, there are no golf courses nearby which take advantage of this abnormality in the Kansas terrain.

For the most part, the majority of the best public golf courses are in the Kansas City area with Sycamore Ridge and Prairie Highlands, but in the middle, sandhills region features the dunes' courses at Sand Creek Station in Newton and Buffalo Dunes in Garden City as well as Colbert Hills in the Flint Hills.
