The Bear Valley Golf Course is on the U.S. Coast Guard's largest base on the Emerald Isle in Kodiak 250 miles southwest of Anchorage.

The golf course is a few miles north of the base on the north side of Buskin Lake. It's a basic, 9 hole parkland layout along pine and fir, tree lined fairways with several streams traversing numerous holes leading to small, slightly raised greens with the constant wind always a factor. It was designed by Richard Blackburn and Wayne Berry and plays to 2,805 yards from the back tees, 33.9/121, course/slope ratings.
