Mendenhall is a 9-hole par 3 layout located about ten miles north of downtown Juneau just west of the Airport. Golf is second here as the views and environment are number one. It's one golf course where it doesn't matter what you shoot or the quality of the course...you hope the pace of play is slow to take in the views.
The holes range in length from 111 yards to 191 yards and the fairways are of native grass while the greens have been developed with creeping bentgrass. The course location is directly in front of the Mendenhall Glacier and surrounding mountains providing a setting with spawning salmon in a stream, deer wandering the course, and the occasional eagle flying overhead. The course was built and designed by Tom File and opened to the public in the spring of 1986 with the average season April 1st to October 1st, weather permitting.
