Avila Beach Golf Resort is located between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach on the Bay.

The golf course is a short and tight, parkland layout winding along tree lined fairways on mostly level terrain with a few sharp doglegs. The front nine traverses oak-tree lined valleys while the back nine journeys along a tidal estuary. The greens tend to be somewhat elevated with false fronts on certain holes and are frequently guarded by sand bunkers. It was designed by Olin Dutra and Desmond Muirhead in 1969 and is 6,364 yards, par 71, 68.3/118, course/slope ratings from the rear tees with three shorter tees.
