Blue Mash is located north of Gaithersburg off I-270 in Laytonsville on Olney Laytonsville Road.

The golf course has a mix of open-links-style holes over mounded fairways and parkland holes along tree-lined fairways. There are numerous water features, a variety of hilly and flat holes, and a generous amount of sand traps at the landing zones and around the greens on land without housing or development along the holes. It's an Arthur Hills design and plays to 6,885 yards from the tips, 73.4/134, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
