Brookings CC is located south of Brookings about 50 miles north of Sioux Falls on the east side of Lake Campbell surrounded by farmland.

The golf course has an interesting history in that it was designed by the original members Earl Bartling and Ward Waltz using tomato cans for the holes in 1920. It's evolved over the years to become an enjoyable and scenic, 18 hole, parkland layout over rolling topography with a few holes bordering the Lake. There's two ponds in play and sand traps sprinkled along the fairways and bordering many of the oval or kidney shaped greens. The golf course can play to 6,770 yards, 72.8/129, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
