Carter Plantation is located off I-55 to the west at exit 26 southwest of Hammond about 45 minutes from New Orleans, and is part of an upscale residential real estate development with cottages for overnight accommodations available.

The course is an interesting and challenging design with 86 sand bunkers and water hazards on 11 holes as it winds through pine tree lined fairways in a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The course was designed by David Toms and plays to 7,104 yards from the back tees, 74.4/140, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
