Castle Oaks is 30 minutes southeast of Sacramento and due east of Galt on the north side of Sutter Creek partially within a residential development.

The golf course journeys over the former Preston Farmlands with Preston Castle set up on the hill. It moves along oak tree lined, rolling terrain bordering and crossing Sutter and Mule Creeks with multiple ponds and lakes and a variety of shapes of sand bunkers defending the fairways and greens.
