Castle Oaks is 30 minutes southeast of Sacramento and due east of Galt on the north side of Sutter Creek partially within a residential development.

The golf course journeys over the former Preston Farmlands with Preston Castle set up on the hill. It moves along oak tree-lined, rolling terrain bordering and crossing Sutter and Mule Creeks with multiple ponds and lakes and a variety of shapes of sand bunkers defending the fairways and greens.
