Champion Lakes is on the southwest side of McAllen toward Mission off US 83/I-2 at Ware Road then south.

The layout is interesting and challenging along fairways defined by palm trees with numerous slight doglegs featuring water hazards on the majority of the holes and sprinkled with sand bunkers. It's 6,771 yards from the tips, 72.2/125, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Charles Howard.
