The Chequamegon Gay Golf Club is on the west side of Ashland about an hour east of Superior.

The golf course treks over rolling hills and forested terrain overlooking the Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior. The layout features broad, undulating fairways with multiple water hazards and a modest amount of sand traps. It plays to 6,566 yards from the tips, 70.1/126, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees. The initial nine holes were designed by Sandy Campbell in the 1920s with the new nine and a redesign by Garrett Gill in 1996.
