Comanche Trail is a municipal golf course with 36 holes on the east side of Amarillo off I-40 at Grand to the south.
Tomahawk is a traditional layout, while Arrowhead, the favored course, is more open and linksy, both well exposed to the wind which is one of the courses' main defenses. Each layout has mounded and undulating fairways, numerous water features and sand traps, heavy rough depending on the time of year and the rain, and generous greens with modest undulation. The Tomahawk course was designed by Charles Howard in 1990 and plays to 5,500 yards at the front tees to 7,180 yards, 72.9/117, course/slope ratings from the tips. Arrowhead opened in the late 1990's and designed by Bob Cupp, and can play from 5,200 yards to 6,940 yards with 71.9/121, course/slope ratings from the tips.
