Cottonwood is located on the southeast side of Montgomery off US 231 partially routed through a residential development.

The golf course is a parkland layout over slightly rolling, broad fairways with ponds, streams, and sand bunkers bordering the fairways and greens. It can play up to 6,939 yards from the tips, 71.0/130, course/slope ratings with five shorter tees, designed by Byron Nelson and Joe Finger.
