Desert Hawk is eight miles west of the I-25 exit for US 50 within a residential development.

The layout is parkland style with scattered trees along the fairways through the residential community. It's generally straightforward as it moves over level terrain with a moderate amount of sand bunkers along the fairways and guarding the greens and several water hazards in play. The course can be set up to 7,351 yards from the tips, 73.6/123, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, originally designed in 1972 by Johnny Bulla with a renovation by Art Shaupeter.
