Desert Hawk is eight miles west of the I-25 exit for US 50 within a residential development.

The layout is parkland style with scattered trees along the fairways through the residential community. It's generally straightforward as it moves over level terrain with a moderate amount of sand bunkers along the fairways and guarding the greens and several water hazards in play. The course can set up to 7,351 yards from the tips, 73.6/123, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, originally designed in 1972 by Johnny Bulla with a renovation by Art Shaupeter.
