French Woods is midway between Monticello and Binghamton off the Southern Tier on NY 97 on the east side of Hancock.

The layout is hilly, a Catskill Mountains layout lumbering along broad, tree-lined fairways with multiple water hazards, blind shots, minimal sand bunkers, and minuscule greens. It journeys over a scenic setting with views for miles and without homes or development along the course. The course was designed by Messrs. Bass/Anderson/Skinner and is fairly short at 6,018 yards, par 72, 70.0/113, course/slope ratings from the back tees.
