The Garland Resort is 4 hours north of Detroit and east of Grayling off I-75 with four 18 hole, championship golf courses.

All of the layout are parkland designs over rolling topography with an assortment of water features and generous sand bunkering. There's several quirky aspects here including par 3 finishing holes along with five or six par 3s and par 5s on each course with the Monarch being the only "traditional" 4 par 5s, 4 par 3s, and 10 par 4s.

The Fountains, which has water in play on half the holes, plays to 6,760 yards, 72.7/129, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tees.

Swampfire is 6,854 yards from the blue tees, 73.2/138 ratings, and is challenging with streams, lakes, and wetlands along fairways bordered by trees, and a true shotmaker's layout.

Reflections is characterized by open and forgiving fairways bordered by lakes and streams, and from the blue tees it's 6,373 yards, 71.3/132.

Monarch is the most challenging at 7,166 yards from the back tees, 74.8/143, course/slope. There's water in play on all but 4 holes and while it is seemingly more forgiving off the tee, the holes are marked by doglegs and sand traps with large, sloping greens.

All of the courses here were designed by the developer/owner, Ron Otto who had no experience designing courses previously.
