The Golf Club of West Virginia is on the east side of Parkersburg off I-77 at the Emerson Ave/Rt 2 exit.

The layout is in a natural setting in a clearing in the woods without housing or development along the course. It's a parkland style design over hilly terrain along broad and narrow, tree lined fairways with several water hazards and sand bunkers guarding many of the greens. It's not all that long at just 6,048 yards from the tips, par of 70, 68.9/116, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
