Green Hills is on the northeast side of Mount Vernon just north of the airport on Fairfield Road.

The layout is a parkland design with two distinct nines. The original layout from the 1920s moves along narrow, tree lined corridors with small sand bunkers guarding the modest greens. The "new" nine from the 1970s has a modern feel along broad fairways with a heavy emphasis on a variety of sizes and shapes of sand traps along the fairways and guarding the greens. There's a small creek cutting across the original layout in addition to scattered ponds and lakes in play on both sides. It plays to 6,490 yards from the tips, 72.2/127, course/slope ratings and two shorter tees with the original nine designed by Arnold Hertenstin and the new nine by Gary Kern.
