Heritage Hills is in the southwest corner of Nebraska on the west side of McCook on the Grand Army of the Republic Highway.

The golf course marches over hills, canyons, and gullies in a mostly natural setting, with homes bordering several holes. The layout is links golf on steroids, with significant elevation change over rugged terrain but broad fairways off the tee. The greens are large with cavernous sand bunkers but generally open in front, promoting the bump-and-run shot. It was designed by Brad Benz and Richard Phelps and plays to 6,715 yards from the tips, 73.7/130 course/slope ratings, and three shorter tees.
