Highland Oaks is between Vermillion and Sioux City on the south side of the Missouri River in Ponca.

The golf course is a 9 hole layout carved through a forest on a bluff overlooking the River. It's generally straightforward with trees defining the fairways along with one water hazard and several sand bunkers in play. For 18 holes the course will play to 6,240 yards at the tips, 69.0/108, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
