Hillcrest is a municipal golf course just northeast of downtown Durango on a mesa that overlooks Durango and is surrounded by the LaPlata Mountains and the Animas River Valley.

The golf course is a parkland-style layout over rolling hills and along tree-lined, hard, and fast fairways with several water hazards and modest greens guarded by sand traps. It was designed by Frank Hummel and plays to 6,903 yards from the tips, 71.2/125, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
