Houston Oaks is located 15 minutes northeast of downtown Lexington on Route 27/68 in Paris, partially within a residential development.

The golf course has a links/parkland-style design over broad, rolling fairways bordered by scattered trees. There are numerous water hazards, including the Licking River, in play on the majority of the holes and sand bunkers defending the occasional fairway and the generous greens. From the tips, it plays to 6,842 yards, 73.8/137, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Jack Ridge.
