The Lake Creek CC is on the northwest side of Storm Lake on Highway 7, midway between Fort Dodge and Sioux City.

The golf course winds through somewhat of a real estate development with homes lining a few of the holes, otherwise it's natural borders or farmland bordering the fairways. The layout is parkland style over mostly level terrain along tree-lined fairways with water hazards in the form of a large lake and Powell Creek, and a modest amount of sand traps are in play. From the White tees, it will play to 6,499 yards, 71.6/124, course/slope ratings with one longer and two shorter tees, designed by Homer Fieldhouse.
