The Latrobe CC is an hour southeast of Pittsburgh and the home of Arnold Palmer and a private club but open to public play for guests of the Marriott Springhill Suites in town.
The golf course is a classic, layout wandering over rolling hills along old growth, tree lined fairways in a scenic setting in the Laurel Highlands. It's a shot maker's layout with massive oak and sycamore trees lining the fairways along gentle doglegs with Nine Mile Run and several ponds in play and the greens well defended by sand bunkers. The course was designed in the early 1920s by Emil Loeffler and James Harrison with Palmer's father Deacon having a hand as a worker on its construction. Palmer and his design team tweaked the course over the years and today it plays to a challenging 6,517 yards from the tips, 72.5/139, course/slope ratings, or 6,110 yards from the white tees, 70.5/135.
