Stono Ferry is on the Intracoastal outside of John's Ferry southwest of Charleston off the Savannah Highway.

The front nine is a traditional parkland layout traversing pine tree lined fairways while the back is along the Intracoastal and marshes and is more open and exposed. It's a tough slog with water in play, either marsh or ponds, on most of the holes, a variety of shapes and sizes of sand bunkers along the fairways and defending the greens, and features an island green. It was designed by Ron Garl and is 6,756 yards from the tips, 72.8/135, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees. An added feature here are relics from The Battle at Stono Ferry fought on these grounds in 1779 and scattered about the course.
