The Marfa Municipal Golf Course is in the Big Bend area of Texas about an hour north of Presidio or an hour west of Alpine.
The golf course is a rudimentary, 9 hole layout said to be at the highest elevation in Texas even though it's flat as a pancake but likely the windiest! The parallel fairways are wide-open and run hard and fast along scattered trees with one pond but no sand bunkers and postage stamps for greens. Tumbleweeds hop the surrounding fences and any shot hit over ten yards high is apt to join them and abruptly leave the golf course. It plays to 3,285 yards from the back tees, 35.0/115, course/slope ratings with one shorter tee. Chances are you'll hit beautiful weather as it hardly ever rains in Marfa, so be sure to check out the Marfa Lights on the east side of town after dark.
