Nemacolin Woodlands is a 2,800 acre resort with 350 guest rooms, spa, and convention center owned by the 84 Lumber family. It's located 70 miles southeast of Pittsburgh with its own Frank Lloyd Wright designed lodge, the Falling Rock, as well as a French themed Chateau LaFayette hotel.
Mystic Rock a very challenging layout that was the venue for the 84 Lumber PGA tour event for years. You will need a long, accurate ball off the tee as the landing areas are well defined with deep woods at the borders in addition to several forced carries from the tee. There are a number awkward approaches over and around rocks, water hazards, massive and deep sand bunkers, and other assorted hazards. The golf course was designed by Pete Dye and plays to 7,526 yards, 77.0/149, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees.
Shepherd's Rock, a Dye/Liddy design from 2017, sits atop a plateau on the Allegheny Mountains. While it provides more in the way of dramatic topography, the broad fairways are difficult to miss. It's arguably more scenic than Mystic Rock, and also eminently more playable. It offers a host of unique and creative holes with the greens possibly it's main defense with their large and uneven putting surfaces. It has five sets of tees from 3,800 to 7,150 yards.
