Newport GC is in the Sugar River Valley midway between I-89 and I-91, about 20 minutes east of Claremont in the Lake Sunapee region.

The golf course journeys over a scenic setting in the Valley surrounded by the mountains, with the Sugar River bisecting the layout in addition to multiple ponds, mainly on the backside. The shot maker's layout moves along pine, hemlock, oak, maple, cherry, and white birch-lined fairways, featuring multiple doglegs and an abundance of sand bunkers at the landing zones off the tee and greenside. There's a fascinating history on the golf course as it was founded in the 1920s with the first 9 holes designed by Willie Park, a Scot who was a 4-time British Open Winner in the late 1800s; Phil Wogan added the second nine in the early 1990s. There are three sets of tees with the tips playing to 6,415 yards, 72.4/134, and course/slope ratings.
