Old Works is located between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks in Anaconda. It was built in the mid-80s on a former mining smelter site and is the first golf course ever built on an EPA Superfund site.
The golf course flows along Warm Springs Creek and the mine hillside with remnants of the mining era, such as huge piles of black slag bordering the fairways. The black slag is ground up and used in the bunkers, which starkly contrasts the green fairways and tall native grasses at the borders. It's a Jack Nicklaus design with numerous fairway and greenside bunker complexes and a links feel with a couple of lakes and the stream coming into play. There are five sets of tees from 5,348 yards to 7,705 yards, the middle tees play to 6,776 yards, 71.9/125, and course/slope ratings.
