Piney Point is on the west side of Lake Tillery 20 minutes south of Abermarle off US 52.

The routing is parkland style winding along narrow, pine tree tree lined fairways over land with a slight change in elevation. The layout has substantial character with dog legs requiring placement off the tee, forced carries, OB, water hazards, and well defended, modest, raised greens. There's five sets of tees overall, it's 5,929 yards, 68.8/116, course/slope ratings from the middle tees, designed by Porter Gibson in the mid-1960s.
