Portage Lake is the Michigan Tech University golf course on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Houghton, almost two hours from Marquette.

The layout is a parkland design winding along tree-lined fairways over rolling hills, affording views of the Canal, Portage Lake, and Lake Superior. There are really two layouts here, as the back nine is the original course built in the early 1900s and is shorter and tighter with much smaller greens. The front side is on a larger tract of land and is more open off the tee, with multiple ponds and generous greens. The course is 6,320 yards playing the black tees, 69.8/126, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
