Prairie Woods is 12 miles southwest of Whitewater and eight miles east of Janesville on CR A surrounded by farmland and forests.

The course roams over some of the most rolling terrain in this part of Wisconsin. The front and back nines were designed by different architects at different times but are complimentary. There's a mix of narrow and exposed fairways along numerous doglegs defined by old growth hardwood trees with multiple wetlands and ponds in play and sand bunkers scattered along the fairways and greens. It's a playable 6,016 yards, 69.0/118, course/slope ratings from the back tees with two shorter tees, designed by Gilmore Graves and Mattingly-Kuehn.
