River Forest Country Club is located midway between Kittanning and Penn Hills in Freeport on the east side of the Allegheny River.

The golf course is a classic, parkland layout traversing generally confining, tree lined fairways over the lowland of the River surrounded by foothills. The layout is challenging with numerous slight and dramatic doglegs, multiple water features, and 20 sand bunkers mostly securing the modest green complexes. It can play to a short, 6,190 yards, 70.2/138, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees, designed by Wynn Tredway.
