River Island is in the Sierra Foothills outside Porterville just east of Lake Success on 190 near the Sequoia National Forest.

The golf course is bisected by the Tule River in addition to numerous ponds journeying along oak and giant sycamore bordered fairways. It's a shot maker's layout with narrow fairways, numerous water features, and sand bunkers littering the fairways and greens. From the back tees it's 7,001 yards, 73.5/135, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees, designed by Bob Baldock and Casey O'Callaghan.
