Royal Hylands is located about 30 miles east of Indianapolis off the I-70 Knightstown exit to the south surrounded by forests and farmland.

The golf course is a challenging layout with a variety of broad and narrow, tree lined fairways bordered by tall fescue and heather grasses. In terms of hazards, there's multiple ponds, wetlands and streams and sand traps mostly greenside. It was designed by Gary Kern and plays to 6,452 yards, 72.0/133, course/slope from the rear tees with two shorter tees.
