The Scotch Meadows Country Club is eight miles south of Laurinburg, off US 401 to the southeast.

The golf course is a stereotypical Sandhills layout traversing pine tree fairways over slightly rolling contours. Gum Swamp Creek bisects the layout, producing numerous streams and ponds along fairways defined by trees, leading to modest, oval, or kidney-shaped greens well-defended by sand bunkers. It plays to 6,527 yards from the Blue tees (72.5 rating/130 slope) with three shorter tees, and while not noted in the Ross Society and the Tufts Archives, a front nine allegedly designed by Donald Ross and a back nine by Russell Breeden.
