Shady Oaks is 15 miles east of Abilene at the Midway/Union Hill exit off I-20 to the south.

The golf course is a traditional layout along tree lined fairways with numerous doglegs, a moderate amount of bunkers, water in play on almost half the holes, and elevated tees and greens. It's a short course at 6,245 yards from the tips, par of 70, 72.4/120, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees with design work in various stages by Leon Howard and Dave Bennett.
