Somerset Farms GC is located 30 miles west of Fredericksburg in Locust Grove off Route 3 on the west bank of the Rapidan River.

The golf course is partially bordering a residential community over rolling terrain and along mounded fairways with a mix of parkland and open links-style, holes in a scenic setting. It's a challenging layout featuring several water hazards, blind shots, doglegs, and an abundance of sand traps with modest greens of varying shapes. There's four sets of tees with the tips playing to 6,832 yards, 73.6/136, course/slope ratings, originally a Jerry Slack design from the late 1990s and redesigned by Rick Robbins.
