Stonecrest is located just outside Prestonburg near the Jenny Wiley State Park in eastern Kentucky. The course is owned and operated by the city of Prestonburg and was built over a reclaimed strip mine on 700 acres of land.

The golf course is a mountain style layout over an impressive change in elevation with 50+ sand traps and five ponds climbing through a scenic setting surrounded by mountains. It was designed by Chris Chrisman and is 7,011 yards, 73.3/129, course/slope ratings from the black tees but has four shorter tee boxes.
