StoneCrest is located just outside Prestonburg near the Jenny Wiley State Park in eastern Kentucky. The course is owned and operated by the city of Prestonburg and was built over a reclaimed strip mine on 700 acres of land.

The golf course has a mountain-style layout over an impressive change in elevation, with 50+ sand traps and five ponds that climb through a scenic setting surrounded by mountains. It was designed by Chris Chrisman and is 7,011 yards, 73.3/129, course/slope ratings from the black tees, but it has four shorter tee boxes.
