The Preserve at Lake Rathbun is about 90 miles southeast of Des Moines in central Iowa in the new Honey Creek State Park.

The golf course wanders over 240 acres of rolling land on Rathbun Lake with a good change of pace to the holes as some are tree lined while others are links-like bordered by tall prairie grasses in open meadows. There's a generous amount of sand bunkers in the landing zones and defending the ample, slightly undulating greens. It can play to 6,987 yards from the tips, 73.2/129, course/slope ratings with four shorter sets of tees, designed by Kevin Norby.
