The Preserve at Lake Rathbun is located in central Iowa, about 90 miles southeast of Des Moines, in the new Honey Creek State Park.

The golf course wanders over 240 acres of rolling land on Rathbun Lake with a good change of pace to the holes as some are tree-lined while others are links-like, bordered by tall prairie grasses in open meadows. There's a generous amount of sand bunkers in the landing zones, and defending the ample, slightly undulating greens. It can play to 6,987 yards from the tips, with 73.2/129 course/slope ratings with four shorter sets of tees designed by Kevin Norby.
