The Summit is located 20 minutes from the south side of the Twin Cities and 45 minutes north of Rochester just off US 12 to the west south of Lake Byllesby.

The course is a parkland layout without homes or development on terrain with up to 100 feet of elevation change. There's a blend of fairways bordered by heavy stands of trees and limestone outcroppings while others are more open with scattered trees and only two water hazards impacting play overall. From the back tees the course is 7,022 yards, 74.9/139 course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by William Whitworth, Marty Benson Jr. and Greg Wencl.
