Thoroughbred is north of Muskegon in Rothbury and part of the Double JJ Resort which also has the Grand View course.

The course is a parkland layout meandering through a large tract of forested land over rolling hills and mounded fairways with water hazards along 1/3 of the holes. It's well protected by sand traps, both deep pot bunkers and conventional bunkers, along the fairways and defending the greens, some of which are elevated and tiered. It plays to 6,900 yards, 73.4/146, course/slope ratings off the tips with three shorter sets of tees, designed by Arthur Hills.
