The Walker Lake Golf Course is on the northwest side of Hawthorne across from the U.S. Army Depot in a veritable oasis of green in an otherwise inhospitable, desert setting within view of Walker Lake.

The course is a basic, 9 hole layout over level terrain along fairways defined by trees leading to oval or kidney shaped greens protected by sand bunkers. It's a short, par 34 layout at 2,718 yards, 33.2/114, course/slope ratings off the back tees with one shorter tee box and a second set for the back nine.
