The Whistling Straits courses on Lake Michigan of the American Club at Kohler are the Irish and the Straits both designed by Pete Dye.

The Irish course is an inland, links design with a few views of the Lake and without the dramatic and intimidating nature of the Straits. The golf course is over undulating fairways and through dunes with tall fescue alongside playing to large, sloping greens with a massive collection of sand bunkers through the fairways and greens. Irish plays to 7,201 yards from the back tees 75.6/146, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees.

The Straits course is along the shores of Lake Michigan with views of the Lake from every hole and eight holes directly on the Lake. It clambers over rolling linksland terrain with the fairways running hard and fast bordered by tall fescue grasses featuring over 900 sand bunkers and the wind always a factor. The Straits Course is 7,201 yards, a 75.6/146, course/slope from the tips four shorter tees.
