Winnapaug is located south of Providence in Westerly off Shore Road south of the airport with a couple of holes bordering Winnapaug Pond.

The course is characterized by narrow, tree-lined fairways along numerous slight doglegs with several water hazards and small, raised greens well protected by sand bunkers and collection areas. It can play to 6,361 yards, 70.6/124 course/slope ratings off the tips with two shorter tees. It is a classic Donald Ross layout, retaining much of its original design.
