The York CC is about 45 minutes west of Lincoln, just off I-80 to the north on the west side of York, surrounded by farmland and forests.

The golf course has a classic layout winding through old growth, elm, and ash, with tree-lined fairways over a slightly undulating terrain. A creek coils through twelve holes and sand bunkers protecting the generally small, oval, or kidney-shaped greens as hazards. Interestingly, the holes on the front nine are routed north and south, while the back side is predominately east to west, save for two holes. There's four sets of tees, the tips play to a short 6,070 yards, 69.8/122, course/slope ratings and a par of 70. The front, original nine holes were designed by Charles Johnston in 1919, with Jim Engh providing a redesign and new nine in 1987.
