Apple Valley is part of the Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure.

The course is set in a valley area surrounded by the mountains and a parkland style design over hilly, tree lined fairways with water hazards on over half the holes and the occasional blind shot. It was designed by Dan Maples and plays to 6,756 yards from the championship tees, 72.7/140, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
