Bald Mountain is a mountain-style layout on the north side of Lake Lure and west of Bald Mountain Lake, with the rock-faced cliffs of Bald Mountain in full view.

The golf course is rugged and challenging over narrow, tree-lined, sloping fairways with water hazards in play on seven holes and modest greens well-defended by sand bunkers. The course has 4 sets of tees and plays to 6,283 yards from the back tees, 70.9/135, course/slope ratings, a Willie B. Lewis design from 1974.
