Birck Boilermaker is Purdue's Golf Course with two 18 hole layouts located on the north side of campus on Cherry Lane.
The first course built was Ackerman Allen in the mid 1930s, and is a parkland-style layout meandering through mature trees over rolling hills with narrow landing areas and approaches. There's a moderate amount of sand bunkers defending the landing areas and greens and water hazards on several holes. The course plays to a total yardage of 7,546 yards, 76.8/137, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees. It was initially designed by William Diddle with subsequent redesigns by Larry Packard in 1968 and by Pete Dye in 2015.
The Kampen Course has wide-open, links-style elements with stands of mature trees at the broad fairways borders. It posses Pete Dye's signature design features including scattered pot bunkers, massive sand complexes, and large sculptured greens. The course slogs along wetlands, ponds, and even a natural celery bog and is regarded as a shot maker's layout requiring course management. It's acknowledged as one of the top college tracks in the country and has held a number of NCAA championships. It was designed by Pete Dye and is a 7,465 yards, 75.9/143, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees.
